Soccer is a growing sport in America, with Major League Soccer (MLS) on track to overtake other sports. Long Island is culturally diverse region, with people from different backgrounds, many of them soccer fans. It would only make sense for Long Island to have their own MLS team to call their own.

The Stony Brook men’s soccer team played their third game of the America East season against the No. 17 New Hampshire Wildcats on a cold and windy afternoon at home on Friday, March 19. In a very entertaining match, the Seawolves could not get their offense going, losing the game 2-1.

In an entertaining America East opener, the Stony Brook men’s soccer team fought to the very end against UMBC on Friday, March 5 at home on a windy Long Island day at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The Seawolves played a great match, but the game ended in a 0-0 tie after two 10-minute overtime halves. The draw brought Stony Brook’s record to 0-2-1.

In the second game of the season for the Stony Brook women’s soccer team, the Seawolves played on the road again against the UMass Minutewomen on Wednesday, March 3 in Amherst, Massachusetts. Stony Brook played a great game, but the Seawolves’ lack of goals ended in defeat, losing 2-0.
